The Daykeeper 2016

This year, I decided to break my yearly Starbucks tradition and opt to purchase my 2016 planner instead. But before I purchase the Daykeeper, I went at the nearby bookstore to make sure that this is really the planner I would want to get.

My other choices were Bando and Kate Spade planners. However, an 18 month planner just wouldn’t work for me. I wanted a planner that starts in January for that fresh start vibe. I also feel that I am no longer young enough to own a Belle de jour planner, so Daykeeper was the best choice for me.

I received my order just this weekend, and here are five things I like about Daykeeper 2016:

The Packaging

Its packaging is perfect if you are giving this planner as a gift. Planners usually are the most useful and practical gift you can give to your girl friends as you can use it all year long. Its a plus if too if the planner is one of a kind. Will surely love to receive this one as a Christmas present.

Work of Art

I love how creativity is shown in each page. Love the lettering, photos, quotes and paintings. If you’re an arts and crafts lover, you will totally adore these pages 🙂

What Made You Smile Today?

I love how you can write your appointments and to do list on the left side of the page and still have a space to jot down your thoughts and the simple things that made you happy. It’s like a planner and a diary rolled into one. 🙂

Paper Quality

Daykeeper’s paper quality is a huge plus for me. Its a bit thicker compared to the ones I checked in the bookstores. Perfect especially for girls like me who loves to doodle and write down anything and everything 🙂

Lovely Post Cards

The planner comes with four lovely post cards. I planned to write on it and give it to my daughter in the future 🙂

Are You Ready To Vote?

Are you ready to vote? 2016 election is just around the corner. You can see political ads almost everywhere. Bashing of candidates in facebook and other social media is just all over your time line. But as they said, don’t just sit there, bash and post. Let your voice be heard by choosing candidates who you think would lead us to a better Philippines. Registration to vote is until October 2015.

Voters should also ensure that they had their bio metrics during their time of registration, otherwise, they would not be able to vote come 2016.

You can check if your data is complete through the COMELEC website.

Just select your Province and City/Municipality from the list of choices via quick search. If your name is not on the list, then you are qualified to vote.

comelec3Another useful facility in their website is the Precinct Finder link. By providing information needed, you can get your precinct number, polling center, registration status and the availability of your Voter’s ID.

comelec2

This was a big help for me because I had been waiting for ages for my voter’s ID to be delivered at my registered address without knowing that I should be the one to claim it in our City Hall. 🙂

Hoping this post will help somehow. Keep in mind that voting is not only our right, it is also our obligation as Filipinos. After all, wouldn’t you want to have a say on where your taxes go?

10 Things You Need to Know After Getting Engaged

SPRING (1)After two years of dating Mark, he finally sealed the deal! Mark proposed April of 2013 and we tied the knot January of 2014. Back then, I actually had no idea what being engaged feels like, so here’s a list of my experiences – the fun and even the awkward ones days after Mark popped the big question.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE RING

Days after posting on Facebook that Mark and I were officially engaged, everyone wanted to see my hand. Good thing my nails are always clean.

THE WEDDING DATE

Everyone wanted to know when the wedding will be right then and there even if you still had no idea where to start on your planning.

THE PROPOSAL STORY

You would probably tell this story like a hundred times.

BUDGET

All couples have a budget set on their wedding, but the big surprise is – you would always go beyond the budget. I had no idea weddings are so expensive. When I got engaged, I really wanted to invest in the wedding business! I couldn’t believe that a wedding host would cost as much as Php 15,000.00!

YOU’RE PLANNER IS A LIFESAVER

You would definitely need a planner and post its in all colors! Months before the wedding, most, if not all of our weekends were already blocked. Seminars, Food Tasting, Meeting with your Suppliers, the lists are just endless.

INVITES

People you hadn’t seen in decades would want to be invited. I accidentally bump into a college acquaintance when I was in a mall, and she asked if she could go into our wedding. I just smiled and told her I haven’t created our guest list yet. It was kinda awkward, really. Months after, I had learned to tell people that we have limited number of seats and we cannot invite everyone we know even if we wanted to. It’s a good thing that people understand the situation we are in.

LEARN HOW TO SAY NO

You just need to be firm and tough sometimes. My parents wanted to invite their friends to our wedding because they’re afraid that their friends would feel bad not being invited. I said yes to a couple of people, but needed to decline some of their request. I discussed with them how much the cost of the wedding will be and if they insist on inviting people, Mark and I would need to apply for a bank loan just to grant their request. Would they want us to start in the red line after getting married? Its okay to politely say No to your parents as this involves your future with your husband. Just talk to them and soon, they’d understand.

THE MAGIC Ds

Two magic D’s you would learn after getting engaged – DIY and DIVISORIA! This will help you save a lot, plus it’s a fun experience too!

BREATHE. RELAX. ENJOY.

Being engaged is a once in a lifetime event too, so it’s best to enjoy it. Do not be too hard on yourselves planning for the big day. I remembered Mark and I got burnt out with all the planning that we decided we needed a wedding break. A weekend without any wedding planning involved. No wedding talks, no wedding appointments, just us! It was a break both of us needed.

LOVE. LOVE.LOVE

Being engaged made me feel so loved, not only by my fiancé but by the people around me. A lot of people were supporting us all throughout the wedding preps. I actually had two surprise bridal showers from my girlfriends which was a lot of fun!

So if you’re engage now and you’re soon to wed, just seize the moment and enjoy everything! When you look back, you just couldn’t imagine how you were able to surpass all the planning and chaos, believe me!

Enjoy the wedding preps! Oh and Congratulations and Best Wishes in advanced! 🙂

Mommy Finds For The Week: Mommy Must Haves

I am a newbie when it comes to motherhood, so I love it when I discover new stuff for babies especially when they are very useful! Here’s my first entry for my Mommy Finds blog – hoping it could help all mommies and mommies to be 🙂

Feeding Bottles

My daughter Liz uses two brands for her feeding bottles. Avent and Playtex-VentAire and I must say I love both brands!

Avent bottles are known for its wide mouth bottle opening which is why they are easier
to clean.

Playtex VentAire is slimmer so it’s an advantage when you travel with your kid. Its angled design is a plus too, as it helps promote an upright feeding which is advised by our Pediatrician.

Mommy Tip: Remember to purchase only BPA free feeding bottles for your child. Anti-Colic feature is a must too because a baby’s tummy is too sensitive, this feature is believed to help babies swallow less air to help reduce gas problems.

Cloth Diapers

I am crazy for Cloth Diapers and I love them so so much! Cloth Diapers help lessen diaper rash and is environment friendly too as we can use them over and over again. The designs are a plus too! Cloth Diapers are available at Baby Company (SM Department Stores). Three popular cloth diaper brands are Belle and Coco, Bamboo Dappy and Baby Leaf. Price starts at Php 320.00.

Onesies

I met a soon to be mom at a Baby Shower I attended which was organized by Smart Parenting Magazine. She advised me that she loves onesies because babies can wear it at home since its very comfortable and there’s no need to change them when visitors arrived because it’s presentable as well.

My child uses onesies from Carters, Gerber and Mothercare. However, I also purchased onesies from Wee Essentials (available at SM Department Stores)  because they can be bought at a much cheaper price.

Pink-Mint-OnesiesGrooming Kit

I bought my daughter’s grooming kit at Sophie La Girafe, available at all Mothercare Stores. But since products from Sophie La Girafe is quite pricey, other options for grooming kits are also available at Baby Company. Summer Health and Grooming Kit and Safety First are good finds too.

Mosquito Repellent Stickers

Mosquito Repellent Stickers is a must have for your babies. I use Moskishield for my daughter because I think it is much safer rather than applying other mosquito repellent lotions/sprays on her sensitive skin.

Feel free to share your good finds for the week too! Happy Shopping! 🙂

PNP SAF Men – Modern Day Heroes

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.

Joseph Campbell

Watching the news these days is just beyond frustrating. 44 policemen died as they tried to capture known terrorists/bomb experts Zulkipli bin Hir alias Marwan and Basit Usman, who has a  $6 Million/$3 Million reward if captured, dead or alive.

A police general was quoted saying that this was a tragedy in the making. Indeed, it was. 44 lives lost. 44 families lost  a loved one, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend. As you watch the news, you can see how these families grief knowing that the person they love the most is forever lost.

#Nasaanangpangulo trended worldwide as President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III chose to attend a plant inauguration for Mitsubishi rather than honoring the fallen PNP-SAF members.

SAF Chief  Getulio Napeñas claims full responsibility on “Oplan Wolverine”.

“I trust you and I need to say that those boys died thinking not of the money but of the many more people who could become Marwan’s victims. The death of my men pains me. I love them. I am their chief, but we as a command stand with pride that we took down a very dangerous man,” Napeñas said.

These men died to protect us. We have lost so many lives and I am not losing hope that one day we will all learn from these. I know this issue would die months from now, but let us not let their heroic deed go to waste. We must pursue peace and give them the justice they deserved.

The whole country would forever be grateful for the bravery and selfless act that the PNP SAF men had shown. You are our modern day heroes!

Thank you, 2014!

I always say that 2014 is my favorite year because I became a wife and a mother. I know it is quite late to post my supposedly year end blog, but hey, it’s better late than never, right? Here are the five memorable events of my 2014. 🙂

MandC tied the knot!

After three years, Mark and I were finally married. That feeling when you walked down the aisle and see the man of your dreams in tears was just surreal. My first dance with my husband was truly unforgettable. I just couldn’t believe that everything was happening. The wedding was memorable because all of our friends and our loved ones were there. It was worth all the stress we needed to go through. 🙂
