Courageous Caitie

My dearest Courageous Caitie.

Hello there beautiful sweetheart. No you don’t know me – and yes I am a complete stranger. But I want to let you know that when you passed away, I cried every single day. I prayed for you. I prayed for your soul – and I prayed for your family’s healing.

Never thought I would cry and care for someone I had not even met. I had faith that you will be healed and that soon, the Lord will give us the miracle all of us had been praying for. But the Lord have a different plan for you. As said by your mom in her blog post, maybe, they raised you so well that your work here is all done and you even finished it before we even did.

I had a hard time accepting that you’re gone, and why these things had to happen. You are so beautiful. Your smile is just contagious. Your courage is unbelievable. Your love for God is admirable.

There are days when I wished that I did not follow your story so I would not be affected this much, but then I realized, if all of us would wished for the same thing, then your death would actually lose its meaning. I have learned a lot from your short yet sweet journey.

Because of you, I realized I should complain less – and thank more. My needs today are just material things – how lame right? But you, you are fighting to live and still manage to give us a smile.

Because of you, I realized that I needed to get to know Jesus more. That going to church and praying everyday are not the only responsibilities that I have with our creator. Your life and your death had shared Jesus in many, many ways.

Because of you, I realized that we should cherish quality time with our families. That I should not focus on the house hold chores and on getting all things done at once. I realized that it’s okay for my home to be a mess as long as we’re happy and we create happy memories to look back one day.

Because of you I realized that life is indeed short and we should make each moment count.

I don’t know how or why, but I feel that I love you Caitie. Somehow hard to believe, but that’s the “Caitie Mircale” I guess. I am still so, so sad about your death. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I will never forget that smile of yours, you little ball of courage.

Go ahead and play, dance and paint in heaven. We will forever remember you, Caitie!

Thank you, 2014!

I always say that 2014 is my favorite year because I became a wife and a mother. I know it is quite late to post my supposedly year end blog, but hey, it’s better late than never, right? Here are the five memorable events of my 2014. 🙂

MandC tied the knot!

After three years, Mark and I were finally married. That feeling when you walked down the aisle and see the man of your dreams in tears was just surreal. My first dance with my husband was truly unforgettable. I just couldn’t believe that everything was happening. The wedding was memorable because all of our friends and our loved ones were there. It was worth all the stress we needed to go through. 🙂

Batanes Adventure

Our First Car

FYI: I named our car Shinichi after my favorite anime Detective Conan.

Ama joined Nanay in Heaven

The greatest man I had ever known passed away. I will forever miss you, Ama. Now you and Nanay can continue your love story in heaven.

Liz Audrey

I gave birth and became a mother to a beautiful baby named Liz Audrey. Now I know what love at first sight means.

Thank you Lord for an amazing 2014! I am truly blessed! 🙂

Goodbye, Nino!

A great kid died today.  Unfortunately, I was not given the chance to meet him personally. He calls me “Ate”, chats with me whenever he is given the chance just to say Hi, and says goodbye after a few minutes because he needs to go back to work.

His facebook home page is full of messages hours after he passed away. His friends and family changed their profile photo with their happy memories with him. That is how loved and missed he is by his family, friends, and even strangers like me whose lives he had touched because of his innocence and simplicity.

Goodbye for now, Nino! Heaven is a happier place now because you are there! Please give Nanay a hug for me and tell him stories about your Kuya Macnel.

Reasons why I have no plans of Losing Weight

1. I am not a porn star, and I do not plan to be – so there’s no need to be all skinny because I have no plans of showing my body.

2. My clothes are medium sized – so that only means I am not thin but I am not fat either. My body type is average. The word is Average.

3. My happy place is watching Friends reruns and a munching on a bag of potato chips. I would not trade to be skinny just so I would look so cute when pouting my lips and making sad faces to the tune of Gwiyomi.

4. I had already accepted the fact that I will never be a Victoria Secret model.

Image

5. I believe that the society is just plain cruel – and I am just pissed of the fact that  they think anything that is short of Mila Kunis’ body is classified as Fat.

6. Such comments from small minded and shallow people would lead others to have eating disorder problems and low self-esteem. I will not fall for that.

7. As Joey Tribbiani said: “I’m curvy and I like it!”
Image

 8. Beauty and Sexiness is subjective.

Image

9. Simply because I believe that I do not need to, because once again, I am not fat.

10. Every body type is different – and just so you know, behind this average body type, is a girl with a brilliant mind 🙂

Fifteen Gifts for your Significant Other

May is my boyfriend’s birthday month. So every year, I had been struggling to buy the perfect gift for him. After three years of being together, I am running out of creative ideas on what to buy for him. I feel like I already gave him most of the things that he wants that I can probably afford.  So for you girlies experiencing the same issue every year, here are fifteen more ideas to give your boyfriend, partner in life, and significant other. 🙂

Enroll Him in Classes

This tip was given to me by my ever so brilliant manager. He’s very passionate with learning new things, so he told me that this is something he would appreciate. Cooking lessons, Dance Classes, Yoga Sessions – whatever you think would work for him 🙂

Image

Reasons Why I Love You

This maybe a little out there – but hey, this still works. Just add a little twist to it 🙂 Does not necessarily have to be about Love always, you can state reasons why your partner makes you happy, why you wont let him go, his cute and lovable habits, and many more. As long as it’s not negative. You can write it in a notebook, coupon cards, or game cards. Just be creative!

Image

Subscription

This would be a reminder of your love for him – every month! May it be a gym membership for a year, a subscription of his favorite magazine – may it be Time Magazine or FHM.

Outreach Program

The Gift of Giving is just priceless. Choose an institution that you know is close to his heart. The elderly, orphaned children, or people with special needs. This would also be an eye opening and an unforgettable experience for the both of you.

Surprise Party

Did it last year and it was awesome! Try to gather  his closest friends and surprise him. Trust me, his smiles, laughter and the clueless look on his face is worth all your hard work.

Throwback Birthday

Ask his closest friends and relatives to write down their favorite memory with your significant other. Did this just this year – and it was another fun experience too. Common denominator with all their letters is that  my boyfriend was  a good guy and a cheapskate! 🙂

Image

Shoes

Trust me, all men love shoes! 🙂

Scratch Map from Quirks

If you guys love to travel, this is a cool gift. My good friend showed this to me as this was his birthday present for his lovey-dovey. The deal is you need to scratch off the countries you had already been to. There are also some travel tips and trivia for some of the countries. You can also write down the music you had listened to, highlights of the vacation, and the friends you had met within the trip.

Image

Scratch Maps available at Quirks for Php 1050

Instant Getaway

Now this may take some time to plan and if you are on a tight budget you also might need to save up first. Tip? Wait for a seat sale that many budget airlines are offering and book that flight! A day tour at Cebu just to pig out and take photos would be an unforgettable experience.

Mini Me

Who does not appreciate personalized gifts?

Image

Mark’s Mini Me

His Hobby

Give him something related to his hobby – if he’s into golf, basketball, or playstation. Good thing my boyfriend does not like any of these things,  so I purchased a Lego set for him instead 🙂

Image

Guilt Free Shopping

Take him somewhere you think he would appreciate and buy him whatever he wants.

King of the Day

Make him the King of the Day – treat him to buffet and to a spa for a free massage. Eat, Relax, and Enjoy!

His Favorite Home Cooked Meal for the Week

If he’s working and he always have problem deciding which fast food chain he should buy his lunch from, then this maybe a perfect gift for him. Spoil him for a week by cooking and preparing his work lunch for him, inclusive of delivery of course.

Relaxing Weekend

This would be my favorite! Book a hotel or schedule a sleep over and just do nothing. Just eat, laugh out loud and watch DVD marathons.

So there goes my Top 15!  Any ideas? Feel free to share 🙂

Spread the Love!

Taal Basilica

Holy Week is a big deal to many of us Filipinos. Not a surprise as we rank number three for countries with most number of Catholic Population. There are many things that we do as a part of our reflection or sacrifice such as Fasting, Visita Iglesia, Station of the Cross, and many more.

This year, I decided to join my boyfriend’s family when he asked me to come along with them at Taal Church. All the while, I thought we we’re going to Tagaytay because I always associate the place Taal with Taal Volcano or Tagaytay City. Never knew that Taal was a small town located in Batangas.

Image

Taal Basilica or Basilica de San Martin de Tours is the largest church in the Philippines and in Asia. It was constructed in 1575.

Image

I had always been a big fan of old churches.♥

Image

Before the mass, we treated ourselves for street foods merienda!

Image

Home made rice cakes are sold everywhere at a cheap price!

Image

Bought this candle for Php 20.00. We’ll light them later and say a little prayer. 🙂

Time to Give Thanks. 🙂

The church was beautiful inside too. Just Perfect!

How to Get There:

From Manila, take bus bound for Lemery, Batangas. Get off once you reached Taal Lemery Bypass Junction and take the jeepney going to the Basilica.
